The Earl of March yesterday confirmed the theme for the 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed as: Hawthorn to Hamilton – Britain’s Love Affair with World Motor Sport.
The festival, due to be held from July 11-13, will celebrate British contributions to motor sport throughout its history, with tributes to figures such as John Surtees, Colin McRae and Gordon Murray.
British engineered cars and motorcycles will feature heavily in next year's 1.16 mile hillclimb. The festival will see the likes of a 1950s Vanwall alongside a host of iconic manufacturers such as Lola, Williams, Prodrive and Cosworth.
