Goodwood has unveiled the full line-up of events and features planned for this year's Festival of Speed, which will take place on July 11-13 at Goodwood House, near Chichester, West Sussex, UK. As with previous Festivals, entry to the 2008 event will be by advance ticket only.
This year's theme is Hawthorn to Hamilton Britain's Love Affair with World Motor Sport. This focuses on Britain's use of global resources to achieve racing success, from Mike Hawthorn driving a Ferrari in 1958 to become Britain's first F1 World Champion to Lewis Hamilton in the British engineered but German powered McLaren.
The centrepiece sculpture outside Goodwood House, always eagerly anticipated, will this year mark the 60th anniversary of Land Rover, while other significant anniversaries being celebrated include: 50 years of BTCC; 50 years of Cosworth; the centenary of AC; 40 years of the Ford Escort; 50 years of Lola; and 20 years of the British Superbike Championship.
Modern F1 constructors will be there, including Ferrari, Mclaren-Mercedes (hopefully with Hamilton), BMW-Sauber, Honda (with Jenson Button), Red Bull, Toyota and Williams-Toyota.
From the World Rally Championship, BP Ford, Stobart Ford, Subaru, Citroen and Suzuki are expected. Rally cars old and new will also be in action on the excellent forest rally stage.
In the Cartier Style et Luxe concours, there will be features on the British cars launched at the 1948 Earl's Court Motor Show, on the centenary of the Ford Model T and of Bond cars and girls.
One last surprise is that motorcycle trials champion Dougie Lambkin will be provided impromptu displays all around the Goodwood site.
