Westfield Sports Cars will unveil a prototype rolling chassis at Autosport International, which will form the basis for the world's first one-make electric car race series.

Developed in collaboration with Delta Motorsport and the Technology Innovation Centre at Birmingham University, the vehicle has an estimated 0-60 time of five seconds. Powered by lithium ion batteries and an electric motor (highlighted in yellow), the car will maintain a total weight of under 600kgs.

Design students from around the country will be invited to design the body when the protoytpe is unveiled at Birmingham's NEC on January 10. The finished competition car will be revealed at Autosport 2009. Westfield will also organise a track day for the winning designers.
