The Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) has announced that historic saloon cars will feature as a support race in the 2008 British Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 6.

Expected to run after the main Formula One race, up to 48 historic saloons will take to the track in what is set to be a rare opportunity for the series.

The race will include cars that competed in the British Saloon Car Championship (former name of the BTCC) which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
