Dutch coachbuilder Vandenbrink has revealed that its modern day take on the hallowed Ferrari 250 GTO will go into production. Designed last year by company founder Michael van der Brink, just five examples of the new GTO will be built.
Based on a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano platform, only the A-pillars and windscreen wipers will remain on the exterior of the car. The bodywork is to be handcrafted in aluminium by Alwin Hietbrink and interior will go under the knife of Henk van Lith, both of whom are world renowned for their excellence in automotive design.
Vandenbrink is offering the five lucky customers two choices of engine, a 6-litre, 640bhp V12 known as the 599, or a bored-out 630 GTO option, with a 6.3-litre V12 and a mammoth 739bhp, giving the GTO a 0-62 time of 3.4 seconds. The first orders are due to go into production next year, with deliveries beginning in 2009.
