US online auction platform Bring A Trailer is taking bids for a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 once owned by Carroll Shelby.

Finished in Wimbledon White, the fastback Mustang is one of 2048 GT500s built for the 1967 model year. It’s said to have been purchased by Carroll Shelby and his business partner Stephen Becker around 1999, having been previously owned by US racing driver Chuck Jones.

After acquiring the car, Shelby had a period-style air-conditioning system and headers fitted to the car’s 428ci V8. The engine was factory-equipped with twin four-barrel Holley carburettors and develops 335bhp and 420lb ft of torque – remarkable figures for the period. Power is sent to the rear axle via a four-speed manual transmission.

The car was repainted in its original shade of Wimbledon White in the late 1980s, along with contrasting side stripe decals. Today, the car wears aluminium ten-spoke wheels and has been fitted with Koni dampers. It is believed to have covered 59,000 miles from new.

The Shelby was imported into Greece and has remained in the consignor’s collection since 2011. It’s offered with an Elite Marti Report, National Shelby Registry certificate and a Carroll Shelby signature on the glovebox lid.

Bidding has reached €225,000 at the time of writing. View the listing here.
