Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio takes Best in Show honours at 2026 London Concours

Octane was on the ground to witness a 1976 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio be crowned Best in Show at the 10th anniversary edition of the London Concours on 9 June 2026.

Finished in Giallo Miura over tan leather upholstery, the Countach was originally owned by Saudi businessman and arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, whose opulent lifestyle led him to be known as ‘The Great Gatsby of the Middle East.’ The car has since found a home with a UK-based owner, who entrusted its full restoration to Lamborghini’s Polo Storico department before driving it to the London Concours via the South of France.

The LP400 is widely regarded as the purest and most desirable expression of the Countach nameplate. Designed by a young Marcello Gandini, the LP400 was nicknamed ‘Periscopio’ for its distinctive roof-mounted rear-view mirror, while power came from a Giotto Bizzarrini-designed 3.9-litre V12. Production ran from 1974-1978, when it was succeeded by the wide-arched Countach LP400 S.

Prior to taking Best in Show honours, the LP400 was named winner of the Dream Cars category, ahead of the Highly Commended 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 and 1994 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo II Giallo Ginestra.

‘The Countach LP400 Periscopio is a truly deserving Best in Show winner, a car that completely changed automotive design and continues to captivate audiences today,’ said Andrew Evans, managing director of London Concours organiser Thorough Events.

Elsewhere, a 2024 GMA T.50 (below) – one of only 100 examples – bagged the Chairman’s Award after securing first place in the Hypercars class.
