A significant upgrade over the K-Series Rover engine previously used.<br> <br> This new engine produced 189bhp giving a 0-60mph time of 4.9 seconds. The power was driven through a 6-speed gearbox and the car also featured servo-assisted braking with ABS, a first for the Elise model.
