An Alpina V8 Roadster with just 746 miles on the clock sold for ¥78,810,000 ($498,300), setting a new world record for the model, at BH Auction’s first 2026 sale, held 10 January at the Tokyo Auto Salon, City Circuit Tokyo Bay, Japan.

One of just 555 examples, the BMW Z8-based Alpina features a tuned 4.8-litre V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. Its low mileage and limited production make it a highly sought-after Z8 variant.

‘To achieve a world record price for one of our lots is a fantastic way to start 2026,’ said BH Auction director Ryuzaburo Yamazaki. ‘This sale, alongside the strength of demand expressed in our other vehicles, demonstrates the continued enthusiasm for rare cars of exceptional quality and provenance.’

Other highlights included a low-mileage Tommykaira R-Z GT-R, one of just 11 range-topping R-Z models built on the Nissan Skyline R34 platform, which sold for ¥98,346,000 ($618,000). A Porsche 964 N/GT fetched ¥37,285,000 ($234,294), an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione sold for ¥46,065,000 ($289,465) and a 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB formerly owned by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay changed hands for ¥77,700,000 ($488,255).
In total, the auction generated over ¥507.5 million ($3.19 million) in sales. A full rundown of the auction results can be found here.
BH Auction’s next sale is scheduled for 9-15 February 2026.
