A 1964 Ferrari 250LM has been crowned the winner of the tenth annual The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award, taking top honours in a competition that brings together the finest concours-winning cars of the past year. At a ceremony held at The Peninsula Paris, the Ferrari – owned by collector Chris Cox – was chosen from an elite shortlist of nine exceptional classics, securing one of the most prestigious accolades in the collector car world.
This particular 250LM first made its mark on the racing scene in the mid-1960s, enjoying an accomplished competitive career from 1965 to 1967. It took victories at Brands Hatch, Snetterton, and Silverstone in 1966 before tackling endurance events such as the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1966 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968. More recently, the car has featured in several high-profile exhibitions, including the Ferrari Forever 75th anniversary display at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, as well as appearances at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and Casa Ferrari’s 70th anniversary celebrations in the United States.
The Best of the Best Award is regarded as the pinnacle of concours recognition, with past winners representing the most outstanding restorations and historically significant automobiles. This 250LM secured its place in contention after winning Best in Show at the 2024 Cavallino Classic, one of the world’s leading Ferrari concours events.
‘The winning 1964 Ferrari 250LM is much more than just a stunning vehicle,’ said Christian Philippsen, co-founder of The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award. ‘This is one of Ferrari’s most revolutionary models, with a rich competitive history and incredible provenance.’

The judging panel for this year’s award featured some of the most respected figures in the motoring world, including designers Peter Brock and Ed Welburn, alongside collectors such as Ralph Lauren and Jay Leno. The 250LM was selected from a shortlist of concours winners, which included a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider, a 1957 Ferrari 335 S, and a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports.
Now in its tenth year, The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award continues to celebrate the world’s most remarkable classic cars, with this latest winner reinforcing Ferrari’s enduring legacy in both competition and concours circles.
