Goodwood has announced its first international expansion with the launch of the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America, bringing the hugely-loved brand to the United States for the first time. Revealed during the 2026 Festival of Speed, the California-based club is due to open in early 2027, with the first major event scheduled to take place at Willow Springs in 2028.

Established almost 30 years ago, the Goodwood Road Racing Club has become the cornerstone of the Duke of Richmond’s motorsport activities, offering members exclusive access to the Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Members’ Meeting. The American venture marks the beginning of a broader expansion across the United States, with California chosen as the starting point.

The Goodwood Road Racing Club of America will mirror its British counterpart by welcoming enthusiasts from across the automotive spectrum, offering a year-round programme of track days, driving tours, social events and curated experiences across California and neighbouring Nevada, culminating in an annual flagship event celebrating American motorsport and car culture. Membership will also include reciprocal access to Goodwood’s UK events.

The announcement comes during a celebration of American motorsport at FoS, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Goodwood also highlighted its long-standing historical links with America, dating back to the 3rd Duke of Richmond’s support for the American cause during the War of Independence, while more recent connections have seen generations of American drivers and manufacturers play starring roles at both the Revival and Festival of Speed.

Supporting the new venture will be three founding patrons whose careers span some of the greatest achievements in international motorsport: Sir Jackie Stewart, Formula 1 World Champion Mario Andretti and NASCAR legend Richard Petty.

‘For almost 30 years, the GRRC has been at the heart of everything we do at Goodwood,’ said the Duke of Richmond. ‘Bringing that spirit to the United States is not only a defining moment for us, but one we believe will resonate across the wider car culture world.’

Further details of membership packages and the club’s inaugural calendar will be announced ahead of its 2027 launch, with prospective members now able to register their interest.
