Jay Leno has been inducted into the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the Broad Arrow Auctions/Hagerty Garage and Social in Los Angeles. The honour recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to automotive heritage.

Leno was inducted into the FIVA Hall of Fame for his promotion of classic motoring through his online media platforms over the past 15 years. His YouTube channel, Jay Leno’s Garage, has accrued 3.98m subscribers and boasts more than 1.1bn video views. The Emmy-winning channel recently featured former US president Joe Biden, as well as Hollywood actors Chris Evans and Jamie Foxx and former Top Gear presenter James May.

Leno was personally awarded the Hall of Fame trophy by FIVA president Alberto Scuro, who noted the correlation between FIVA and Leno’s work to protect, preserve and promote the use of historic and young timer vehicles on public roads.

Scuro also drew attention to FIVA’s growing American presence through its Friends of FIVA USA organisation, which can use its resources to support Leno’s motoring initiatives. ‘FIVA serves the global historic vehicle community and, I state emphatically, that American enthusiasts can count upon all that FIVA stands for; namely advocacy, education and community engagement.’

Joining Leno at the Hall of Fame ceremony were Jay Leno’s Garage segment host Donald Osborne, Historic Vehicle Association founder Mark Gessler, and representatives from FIVA, US car clubs, museums and media.

Representing Friends of FIVA USA, Gessler explained the workings of the FIVA ID Card and how the organisation’s Technical Code can be combined with existing collector car evaluation programmes to protect the identity and provenance of historic vehicles. He then presented Leno with a FIVA ID Card for his 1930 Duesenberg Model J LeBaron ‘Barrelside’ Phaeton.
