A 2006 Land Rover Range Rover L322 formerly owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II has sold for £175,500 (including fees) at Iconic Auctioneers’ Collectors’ Car Sale, held at the Silverstone Festival on 23 August 2025.

The remarkable result followed spirited bidding that quickly climbed to £150,000, before two determined collectors from the Caribbean and Japan drove the price to a hammer figure of £156,000. The Caribbean bidder ultimately secured the car.

Supplied directly by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division, the Range Rover was presented to Her Majesty between 2006 and 2008 and specified with a number of bespoke features reflecting its Royal provenance. These include upgraded internal wiring for enhanced security and communications, rear grab handles, exit side steps, mud flaps, and a custom dog guard to accommodate the Queen’s beloved corgis.

Finished in the Royal Household’s traditional Tonga Green over Oxford Sand leather with extended burr walnut trim, the car also carries the silver Labrador bonnet mascot – a familiar hallmark of the Queen’s personal vehicles.

Under the bonnet sits Jaguar’s 4.2‑litre supercharged V8 – and it is believed to be the sole Royal Range Rover fitted with this engine.

The vehicle remained in Royal Household ownership for two years, primarily stationed at Windsor Castle, before being decommissioned and released to the public market. At that point, its distinctive grab handles were removed.

The vehicle was sold with just under 120,000 miles on the clock.
