Gooding Christie’s made a decisive European debut at Rétromobile Paris, achieving more than €50 million in total sales and an 80% sell-through rate at its inaugural continental auction on 3 February 2026. Held as the official sale of Rétromobile Paris, the auction represented the first major European sale from the house since its acquisition by Christie’s in 2024.
The headline result was a 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO, which sold for €9,117,500, setting a new world auction record for the model and surpassing the previous benchmark (set earlier this month by Mecum) by close to €2 million. The result underlined sustained demand for Ferrari’s halo cars, particularly examples with strong provenance originality. A second modern Ferrari record followed when a 2018 Ferrari FXX K Evo, offered without reserve, achieved €6,980,000 – another world auction high and a clear signal that hypercars continue to be in demand.

Period European classics also performed strongly, with a 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupé realising €6,755,000, while a 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante sold for €2,255,000. Italian supercars were well represented by a 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV, which achieved €3,380,000.
Modern competition cars added further depth to the catalogue. A Le Mans-competing 2013 Ferrari 458 GTE – one of just 52 Michelotto-built cars and delivered new to Team Taisan – became the first example of the type to sell at public auction, achieving €1,130,000. Elsewhere, a 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale set a new model record at €815,000, while a 1994 Ferrari 512 TR Speciale reached €747,500, also a world auction high.
With ten lots exceeding €1 million and multiple record-setting results, Gooding Christie’s Paris sale positioned itself as a credible counterweight to the established European auction calendar.
