Renault Icons from marque’s heritage fleet are up for grabs this December

Artcurial has confirmed it will sell an unprecedented collection of 100 cars directly from Renault’s heritage fleet on 7 December, 2025, in a one-off auction at the marque’s Flins-sur-Seine factory near Paris.

News of the sale follows Renault‘s announcement about its heritage strategy earlier this year, when it announced plans to construct a new exhibition space at the former Flins production plant, which opened back in 1952.

Once constructed, the vast new heritage centre will supposedly house around 600 Renaults, with at least one of every model built by the French brand since 1898. It is scheduled to open to the public in 2027.

Ironically, Renault’s heritage strategy requires it to slim its collection, so numerous duplicates are headed to Artcurial’s upcoming sale. This represents a perhaps once-in-a lifetime opportunity for collectors; a cursory glance at the catalogue reveals an abundance of rare and historically significant road and racing machines up for grabs.

Included are 20 Formula 1 cars – including Alain Prost’s 1983 Renault RE40-04, Elio de Angelis’s Renault-powered 1984 Lotus 95T and a Renault RE30 piloted by René Arnoux in 1982 – alongside Le Mans prototypes such as the 1978 Renault-Alpine A442 driven by Derek Bell and Jean-Pierre Jarier.

The cars will be complemented by 100 intriguing automobilia items, ranging from F1 engines and wind-tunnel mock-ups to design models. More details are expected over the coming weeks. Artcurial says all of the lots are entirely new to the market.
