Former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond is set to auction four cars from his personal collection at Iconic Auctioneers’ Race Retro sale at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on 20-22 February 2026.

Spanning more than seven decades of motoring history, the quartet ranges from pre-war to modern and comprises two road cars – a 1933 Riley 14/6 Alpine Tourer and a 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2 – alongside two competition cars: a 2006 MINI Cooper S and a 1972 MG B GT.

Leading the sale is the Escort RS2000 Mk2, estimated at £25,000–£35,000. The car was restored by Hammond’s own The Smallest Cog Workshop in Herefordshire, with work including the replacement of corroded sections, new brakes and front suspension, a full belt service, refreshed interior by Aldridge Trimming and a respray in Ford Midnight Blue.

The restoration was documented on Richard Hammond’s Workshop, and the Escort has since appeared at several concours events. Hammond also drove it in the 2025 VSCC Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone. Reflecting the car’s profile, Corgi will release a series of 1:43 die-cast models, with the inaugural example – signed by Hammond – included as part of the sale.

Iconic Auctioneers values the 1972 MG B GT as the second-most valuable car in the collection, with a £15,000-£20,000 estimate. This race-prepared example was the final vehicle Hammond drove on Top Gear before leaving the BBC to present The Grand Tour alongside co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May.

Originally a road car, the MG was transformed into a racer by The Smallest Cog during season two of Richard Hammond’s Workshop. It has since completed four seasons of historic motorsport between 2022 and 2025. The MG is being sold as ready to race and has been treated to a new head gasket and head skim by Rick Wood Motorsport.

The 2006 MINI Cooper S, nicknamed ‘Stanley’, was prepared for competition by marque specialist Lohen. Developing 304bhp, the MINI boasts a big-bore, big-valve, 1.8-litre engine with a ported head. Driven in competition by Richard Hammond’s daughter, Izzy, it’s forecast to hammer for between £10,000 and £15,000.

Rounding out the collection is the 1933 Riley 14/6 Alpine Tourer owned by Hammond since 2019. Recently serviced and said to be running well, the six-cylinder pre-war classic is positioned as an ideal vehicle for VSCC rallies and tours  (est. £18,000 – £24,000).

The MINI and MG B GT competition cars will be offered in Iconic Auctioneers’ Race Retro competition car sale on 21 February 2026, while the Escort RS2000 and Riley will cross the block in the Collectors’ Cars sale later the same day.
