RM Sotheby’s has achieved its highest-grossing European auction to date, as the ‘Tailored for Speed’ sale at Zurich’s Dolder Grand Hotel realised CHF 69,672,12, with a 100% sell-through rate. Comprising of 42 lots, including a significant number of the world’s most exclusive supercars and track-focused machines, the single-owner collection drew intense international bidding, both in the room and online.
The auction confirmed the enduring appeal of low-mileage, limited-production Ferraris. The 2024 Ferrari Daytona SP3, one of 600 built, topped the sale at CHF 5,348,750, while the 2017 LaFerrari Aperta, finished in Bianco Italia over Nero leather, achieved CHF 5,292,500. The 2016 Ferrari FXX-K Evo, part of Ferrari’s Corse Clienti XX programme, realised CHF 5,236,250, and the 1998 Ferrari 333 SP, a former JMB Giesse Racing entry and winner of the 1999 Sports Racing World Cup rounds at Barcelona and Monza, reached CHF 5,208,125, setting a new record for the model.
Ferrari’s Corse Clienti cars continued to dominate the headlines. All three examples offered – the FXX-K Evo, FXX Evo, and 599XX Evo – set new auction benchmarks, underlining the increasing collectability of Maranello’s track-only specials. Outside the Ferrari stable, strong results were recorded for a 2021 Pagani Huayra Roadster BC at CHF 4,476,875, a 2023 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport at CHF 4,055,000, and a 2024 Pagani Utopia at CHF 3,267,500.
The strength of the results underscores the continued demand for modern performance car icons as a core collecting category. ‘A single-owner collection of this type rarely comes to market, and no collection of this calibre has ever been offered in Europe,’ said Augustin Sabatié-Garat, RM Sotheby’s Director of Sales. ‘The results speak for themselves.’
