Known for its radical Land Rover Defender builds, UK firm Twisted Automotive has unveiled its take on the two-door Range Rover Classic.
Dubbed the Twisted Range Rover Classic (TRRC), the re-engineered luxury off-roader combines hand-formed aluminium bodywork with a potent 500bhp 6.2-litre Chevrolet LT1 V8 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Twisted founder Charles Fawcett says ‘unapologetic nostalgia’ inspired the TRRC:
‘When I think back to the 1980s, my father always seemed to have a two-door Range Rover, and there was one in particular that stood out. It was terracotta brown with fibreglass extended wheelarches and white Weller eight-spoke wheels shod with General Grabber road-oriented tyres… To me, it was just iconic.’

Twisted says it has drawn on two decades of Defender engineering experience to ensure the Range Rover’s chassis can properly handle the 500bhp produced by the same LT1 V8 used in the C7-generation Corvette Stingray.
While the TRRC drives similarly to the brand’s T90 and T110 Defenders, its chassis has been tuned specifically for the Range Rover. The front end sits slightly lower, while the springs, dampers and differentials have all been upgraded. Braking is handled by Twisted’s six-piston front and four-piston rear setup.
‘We spent an age tweaking the bushings so that you got something that was sharp and super driveable but not too harsh,’ Fawcett explains. ‘A Range Rover needs to be supple.’

Twisted will build up to 12 TRRCs per year using left- and right-hand-drive donor cars from 1990–92. Each donor chassis and axle casing is stripped, blasted and e-coated in a protective satin-black finish before the body undergoes a full panel-by-panel restoration.
The company then fits its own hand-formed body panels, including rolled wheelarches to accommodate larger wheels and colour-coded C-pillars. Styling blends cues from across the Range Rover Classic’s history, pairing a 1970s-style bumper with a 1990s-inspired grille and high-output headlights.
Inside, Twisted has added heated seats, modern infotainment and air-conditioning, along with improved sound insulation and cabin sealing. Leather trims every surface, while the front seats have been mounted lower to improve the driver’s view. Attention to detail extends to the soundproofing, which is adhered to the carpet rather than the bodyshell, allowing owners to leave the rear inner arches uncarpeted to showcase the exposed metalwork.

‘All of our 2026 build slots are already taken and 2027 is looking over-subscribed,’ Fawcett revealed. ‘The Range Rover Classic is a British icon. It’s not for everyone, and that’s the point. As with all Twisted products, not everyone will want one and of those that do, not everyone will get one.’
TRRC prices start from £350,000, with each vehicle undergoing a 500-mile validation programme before delivery.
