A vanishingly rare 2015 VLF Force 1 V10 has been listed for sale with California-based high-end dealer Fantasy Junction.

Although little more than an automotive footnote today, VLF Automotive sought to become the US’ leading low-volume supercar manufacturer in the mid-2010s and was backed by industry heavyweight Bob Lutz and renowned designer Henrik Fisker.

VLF’s first effort was the Destino, a heavily modified version of the Fisker Karma. The Force 1 V10 followed as the company’s attempt to gain a foothold in the supercar market and was based on the 2015 Dodge Viper.

Fifty examples were planned, but only five left VLF’s Auburn Hills production line before the company folded in 2018. Among them is this Graphite Metallic-over-Red Leather car, believed to have been built for Fisker himself. It features aggressive carbonfibre bodywork and a substantially uprated version of the Viper’s 8.4-litre V10, with new camshafts, higher-flow heads and a free-flowing exhaust. Power rose to 745bhp – more than 100bhp over standard – giving 0-60mph in 3.0sec and a 218mph top speed. To help harness the performance, VLF enlisted Viper racer and dealer Ben Keating to refine the suspension.

Despite the Force 1’s capabilities, VLF’s long-term prospects hinged on a $10m investment round tied to the 50-car production plan. Although production had already begun when the model debuted at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show, the funding never materialised and the run ended at five.

This single-owner example arrived to the consignor with eight miles on the clock and has covered only 1500 during its lifetime. It is said to have been consistently serviced and run on periodic inspection drives.

Fantasy Junction is offering the car on a POA basis, with the full listing available to view here.
