Motoring journalist, television presenter and racing driver Tiff Needell will appear at the Concours des Légendes at Wilton House, taking place 19-21 June 2026.

A familiar face to generations of enthusiasts, Needell began his motorsport career in the 1970s, rising through the junior ranks before making his Formula 1 debut with Ensign in 1980. His time in F1 was brief, but it was the start of a long and varied career that took in the World Endurance Championship, the British Touring Car Championship and beyond.

He was a regular at the 24 Hours of Le Mans throughout the 1980s and 1990s, his best result coming in 1990 when he finished third overall in a Porsche 962C alongside David Sears and Anthony Reid, against strong factory opposition. The previous year brought his sole BTCC victory, sharing a Labatt’s Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth with Laurence Bristow in the one-hour endurance race at Donington Park.

Needell remained a BTCC regular into the Super Touring era and also competed in GT racing, most notably with the Lister Storm, before a somewhat different challenge presented itself in the form of the 1992 RAC Rally.

To many enthusiasts, however, he is best known for his television work – presenting Top Gear before its 2001 relaunch, and subsequently becoming a long-standing face of Fifth Gear

Needell will be in conversation at Wilton House across the weekend, drawing on a career that has spanned F1, Le Mans, touring cars and a television career that has introduced many generations of viewers to the thrill of driving.
