Circuit des Remparts Angoulême
Circuit des Remparts is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating and evocative historic motorsport events of the year, as competitors race through the narrow streets of Angoulême in southwestern France. Street circuits aren’t unusual in themselves, but Angoulême’s extremely narrow roads and significant elevation make Monaco look like a multi-lane highway. Thankfully, the cars that tend to race there – from Type 35 Bugattis to Lotus Elans – tend to be fairly compact themselves. This year’s event will be held from 18 to 20 September. A concours takes place on the first two days with racing on the third, with nine grids in total. The spectator views are like nothing else, but even on the non-racing days, it’s pretty special walking around the town and seeing race cars parked outside the cafés…
