The inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma was due to begin this week, however due to the passing of Pope Francis – and funeral that is expected to take place this weekend – the event’s organisers have taken the difficult decision to postpone the concours until 2026. The Anantara Hotel Group has released the following statement, which confirms the postponement as well as a new date for 2026:
‘Out of deep respect for the passing of Pope Francis and the significance of related events, we regret to announce the postponement of the Anantara Concorso Roma. As we had hoped, we have had nothing but total understanding and support from the car owners, our partners and all those who were planning a visit to the event.
‘The Roman authorities have respected our decision, acknowledging that it couldn’t have been an easy decision to take. Although this is an unprecedented situation for an inaugural event, in the circumstances we had no option. The organising team is already focusing on the inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma, which will take place from 16-19 April 2026, and are promising it will be bigger and better.
‘We would like to express our huge thanks to everybody concerned for their understanding, and look forward to welcoming them back to Rome next Spring.’
