Iconic Auctioneers has announced that the Anthony Hamilton Collection will be offered for sale at the BRDC Classic, with 27 cars from the businessman and father of seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton crossing the block at Silverstone on 25 July.

Leading the sale is a low-mileage Jaguar XJ220s – one of just 69 UK-supplied right-hand-drive examples, which has covered only 3277 miles from. Finished in Silverstone Green Metallic over a light tan interior, it has been maintained throughout by Jaguar Classic, receiving annual servicing along with scheduled clutch and fuel-cell replacements regardless of mileage. Estimated at £500,000-550,000.

Jaguar enthusiasts have much to see in the collection, and next up is an XKSS recreation, built to such an exacting standard that it served as one of the reference cars for Jaguar Classic’s Continuation programme. Guided at £325,000-375,000, it is joined by two remarkably accurate C-type tool-room copies recreating XKC001 – the marque’s first Le Mans-winning C-type – and XKC003, the development car that helped demonstrate the advantages of disc brakes during the 1952 Mille Miglia. Both carry estimates of £175,000-225,000. Completing the Coventry contingent are three E-types, including a manual Series 3 V12 finished in the desirable factory shade of Heather.

Among the collection’s most historically significant cars is what is believed to be the only surviving Triumph TR5 prototype (below). Restored to its original experimental specification and estimated at £80,000-90,000, it is joined by a beautifully restored Michelotti-styled Italia 2000 Coupé (£80,000-100,000), two early Spitfires and a GT6 MkI. The collection also includes all three original Mini Cooper S engine variants – the 970 S, 1071 S and 1275 S – a trio seldom offered together and certain to attract interest from Mini collectors.

Aston Martin is represented by three distinctive models spanning three decades of Gaydon and Newport Pagnell production: a beautifully restored Series 3 V8 (£90,000-100,000), a rare V8 Coupé (£55,000-65,000) and William Towns’ unmistakable Lagonda Series 2 (£80,000-100,000). Modern British coachbuilding, meanwhile, is represented by a 2016 David Brown Automotive Speedback GT. Believed to be only the second example completed and used extensively during the model’s early press programme, it has covered just 569km from new and is expected to achieve £200,000-240,000.

The only departures from the collection’s distinctly British flavour come in the form of three Mercedes-Benz models: a graceful 1960 190 SL, a 1989 300SL formerly owned by heavyweight boxer Billy Walker and a C63 AMG Edition 507, acquired during Lewis Hamilton’s championship-winning years with Mercedes-AMG.

The Anthony Hamilton Collection will be offered during Iconic Auctioneers’ sale at the BRDC Classic on Saturday 25 July, with viewing taking place throughout the Silverstone race weekend. See the full catalogue here.
