French F1 heroes to appear at Rétromobile

Must-see French show Rétromobile is to dedicate its 49th event from 5-9 February to celebrating France’s rich F1 history with drivers, manufacturers, engine builders and cars covering 60 glorious years.

Organisers are promising the ‘largest pop-up garage in the world’ with 16 single-seaters covering 600sq m of the huge Porte de Versailles halls. Among the models displayed wil be icons such as the two-times championship-winning Matra MS 80, Renault RS 10, the first turbo to win a Grand Prix, 1988 Ligier JS31, Jacques Villeneuve’s 1997 championship Williams Renault FW19 and the 1995 Benetton Renault in which Michael Schumacher won his first world title.

They are also promising a tantalising roll-calk of drivers on a new live stage including Olivier Panis, Jacques Laffite, Jean Alesi and René Arnoux. Other innovations for 2025 includes a hall dedicated to affordable classics (under €30,000), plus a huge, 2000sq motorcycle display including a major exhibition tracing the career of Éric de Seynes, a prominent figure in motorcycle racing and former CEO of Yamaha France.

The now traditional on-site Artcurial auction will take place on 7-8 February and will centre on the Silver Collection, five Classiche certified Ferraris ranging from 1963 Ferrari 250 GT/Lusso to 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta.
