RM Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week auction has set a new regional benchmark, grossing $85,064,125. Staged at the St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, the sale formed the centrepiece of a four-day programme of exhibitions, and the clear star of the sale was a 1994 McLaren F1, which achieved $25,317,500.

Setting a new auction record for the model, this particualr car was the 14th of just 64 road-going F1s built. Originally delivered to the Brunei Royal Family in Titanium Yellow, it returned to McLaren in 2007 for a comprehensive factory update – and that work included the installation of the High-Downforce Kit, an LM-specification interior and a refinish in Ibis White.

Another landmark moment followed with the sale of the 2026 McLaren Formula 1 Team MCL40A, which realised $11,480,000. Offered as part of McLaren Racing’s Triple Crown programme, it marked the first time a Formula 1 car has been sold at auction before being raced. The buyer will take delivery of a chassis driven in competition during the 2026 season, with a choice of car campaigned by either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri.

Completing the Triple Crown offering, a 2027 McLaren United AS WEC Hypercar Team car sold for $7,598,750, while a 2026 Arrow McLaren IndyCar DW12 achieved $848,750, each accompanied by extensive factory access and VIP race hospitality.

Among the leading road car results was a unique 2006 Pagani Zonda Riviera, rebuilt under the Pagani UNICO programme, which fetched $10,130,000. Other notable sales included a 1990 Ferrari F40, first delivered to Alain Prost, at $3,886,250; a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari at $3,380,000; and a low-mileage 2022 Ferrari Monza SP2 at $2,536,250. A 2025 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 also crossed the block, achieving $5,630,000, though its appearance was peripheral to the sale’s central McLaren narrative.
