Touring Superleggera is marking its 100th anniversary with an open-top, coachbuilt Ferrari 550 Maranello restomod. Called the Veloce12 Aperta, the carbon-bodied machine was revealed at Rho, Milan, and joins the carrozzeria’s existing Veloce12 coupé and Barchetta body styles.

Beneath Touring’s bespoke Alba White-finished bodywork sits a rebuilt Ferrari F133 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V12. Breathing through a high-flow Supersprint exhaust, it develops 503bhp, representing a 25bhp improvement. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a gated six-speed manual transmission.

Complementing the powertrain is a carbon-reinforced steel spaceframe chassis, TracTive adaptive dampers and 19-inch wheels wearing 255/35-section front and 305/30-section rear tyres.

Setting the Aperta apart from the fully convertible Barchetta is a targa-style roof featuring stowable panels on either side of a fixed aluminium arch – described as the Aperta’s ‘crown’ by Touring’s head of design Andreas Van Spreybroeck.

‘The Veloce12 Aperta offers the duality that bridges the muscular presence of the Veloce12 Coupé and the unrestrained freedom of the Veloce12 Barchetta,’ said Touring CEO Markus Tellenbach.

Touring has built the Aperta around a ‘Weekender’ theme, positioning it as a two-seater grand tourer rather than an uncompromising performance machine. Total storage is quoted at 327 litres with the roof up – plenty of space for long weekend jaunts.

The cabin pairs white and burgundy upholstery in a nod to the 1960s Touring-bodied Maserati 3500 GT, and the rear deck features an integrated strap system designed for bespoke luggage.

Touring hasn’t confirmed how many Apertas it will build or how much they will cost. Veloce12 Coupé production was limited to just 30 examples priced from €690,000 plus the donor car.
