A remarkably original 1990 Porsche 962C – one of the final factory-built examples of Porsche’s all-conquering Group C prototype – will lead this month’s Sealed Bids auction on Collecting Cars. Bidding concludes on 13 November.
Chassis 962-163 was delivered new to Brun Motorsport in 1990 and is one of only seven customer cars built to full 1988 works specification. It is also believed to be the only Brun car never to suffer crash damage or a rebody, making it among the most authentic surviving 962Cs in existence. Raced only twice in period, at Montreal and Mexico City, it has covered fewer than 80 competitive laps and still wears its hand-painted Repsol livery and factory bodywork.

The car has passed through a number of prominent private collections and was recently given a sympathetic restoration by renowned specialist Katana Ltd – the same firm responsible for rebuilding many of Porsche’s ex-works Rothmans 956s and 962s. Retaining its factory 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine, Bosch MP 1.7 ignition system and original interior fittings, it represents a rare time capsule from the final chapter of Group C racing. Following its recommissioning, it was exhibited at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Heveningham Hall Concours and Boxengasse Megaphonics, and is now ready for use once again.

The 962C is joined by another milestone from Stuttgart – a 1968 Porsche 911 E long-wheelbase prototype. Believed to be the first 911 fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and a magnesium crankcase, the car is thought never to have been publicly offered before. Its provenance includes factory records and notable owners such as Jo Siffert and Paddy McNally, while a recent £280,000 restoration has returned it to immaculate condition.

Other headline lots include a 1962 Maserati 5000 GT by Allemano, one of just 34 built and originally commissioned for Mexican president Adolfo López Mateos; a 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, one of only 112 examples; and an as-new McLaren 675LT Spider MSO Carbon Series, one of 25 made.
