A 1970 Monteverdi 375L presented by Alan Carrington Classic Cars scooped the Prix d’Honneur at this year’s reborn Salon Privé London Concours de Vente. The Seychelles Blue Swiss supercoupé is powered by a 440cu in Chrysler engine driving through a four-speed manual ‘box, is one of just 65 built and was at the event fresh from a mammoth nine-year restoration by Alan Carrington’s team.
The unique aspect of this London show, quite apart of being one of only a handful of events permitted to use the prestigious Royal Hospital Chelsea (including the famous flower show), is that all the cars on site are openly for sale. That means that if they had just under £400,000 to hand, a visitor could have driven home in the 2+2 Monteverdi, assuming the price didn’t go up after its class win and Best of Show title!

The other major prizes went to a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione presented by Joe Macari Performance Cars (People’s Choice) and Car Iconics’1949 Jaguar XK120 OTS (The Pensioners’ Trophy).

There were 80 cars in the Concours which was attended by 18,000 people and judged by a panel that included author and Ferrari authority Keith Bluemel, owner of the Maranello Concessionaires Archive, Tony Willis, motoring influencer Thomas Howarth and photographer Freddie Atkins.
They had the difficult task of picking winners from a wide selection of delectable classics shown by more than 30 leading dealers and specialists including Furlonger, Hilton & Moss, Joe Macari Performance Cars, Fiskens, Tom Hartley, Dylan Miles and Howard Wise.

While the Concours de Vente was the centrepiece, there was plenty more happening at the event over three days. Visitors experienced a fine line-up of hypercars, supercars and restomods, including the latest stunners from Koenigsegg, Aston Martin, Encor Design, Analogue Automotive, Fiat Abarth, and the Austin Motor Company.

Andrew Bagley, chairman and co-founder at Salon Privé, said: ‘Salon Privé London continues to build real momentum, and this year’s event has been a strong reflection of that. To welcome so many guests across the three days, alongside such a high calibre of vehicles, partners and exhibitors, shows the strength of the concept in the capital.
‘From the success of the Concours de Vente to the buzzing atmosphere on Ladies’ Day, it is clear there is a genuine appetite for an event that brings together automotive excellence with a broader lifestyle experience, and we are excited to keep growing that in the years ahead.’
