Ariel has launched the Atom 4RR, the most extreme evolution of the company’s long-running Atom line ever built – combining a bespoke 525bhp version of the Honda-based powertrain with a sub-700kg chassis to create what the company describes as its most focused road-legal machine to date. Developed to celebrate 25 years of the Atom, the 4RR sits at the very top of the range, designed for track use, but still being road legal.
At its core is a heavily reworked version of the familiar turbocharged Honda K20C four-cylinder, which thanks to forged pistons, stronger con-rods, a revised cylinder head with bespoke camshafts and a larger turbocharger, the engine produces 525bhp at 8200rpm and 406lb ft of torque.

A kerb weight of just 657kg results in a power-to-weight ratio exceeding 780bhp per tonne, meaning it will hit 0-62mph in 2.4 seconds, 0-100mph in 5.1 seconds and will go on to a top speed of 175mph.
Transmission is via a Quaife six-speed sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shift and auto-blip functionality, paired with a limited-slip diff and motorsport-grade driveshafts. The chassis itself remains true to the Atom’s exposed structure, but has been further strengthened with a fully bronze-welded tubular frame, aluminium bulkheads and extensive adjustability across suspension geometry.
Underpinning the chassis is the usual double wishbone suspension set-up, with Öhlins dampers – adjustable for compression and rebound – while braking is handled by AP Racing hardware with 310mm ventilated discs and four-piston calipers front and rear. A multi-stage, switchable motorsport ABS system makes the most of the stopping power on track.

Despite its track bias, the 4RR remains road legal, and like all Ariel models is built to order. Each car is assembled around its owner’s requirements, with optional equipment including a plated differential, adjustable dampers and even on-board air jacks.
Priced from £208,000 plus taxes, the 4RR represents a significant step beyond the standard Atom range. To find out more, visit arielmotor.co.uk.
