A 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach finished in a bespoke, paint-to-sample shade of Riviera Blue topped Broad Arrow’s Air|Water Auction in California, crossing the block for $4,680,000 on 25 April.
The sale was staged during the Porsche-only Air|Water event at Costa Mesa, California, organised by the team behind the popular Luftgekühlt series. Achieving $20m in total sales, 2026 was Broad Arrow’s strongest Air|Water sale to date, with nearly half of all bidders taking part for the first time.
The second-highest result was the $2,095,000 brought in by the 2025 Ruf SCR. A ground-up Ruf design rather than a Porsche-based conversion, the SCR was offered in paint-to-sample Türkisblau and presented for sale with delivery mileage.
A pair of 911s reimagined by Singer – the ‘Lindsey Commission’ and the ‘Rio Commission’ – attracted similar interest. The former, a 1990 coupé finished in Light Ivory over Cumin leather with Nickel trim, crossed the block for $1,022,500. The Bespoke Green over Burgundy and Sunset Orange Rio Commission, meanwhile, is based on a 1992 911 Targa and achieved $1,160,000.
Collectable WLS-equipped (Werksleistungssteigerung, German for ‘factory power increase’) 911s proved particularly sought-after. The 1998 993 Turbo S boasting the 450bhp WLS2 package is one of only 160 Rest of World examples so equipped, and crossed the block for $681,500 – $56,500 above its top pre-sale estimate. Other WLS package cars were a 1989 930 Coupé ($390,000) and a 1997 993 Carrera 4S 3.8 ($263,200).
‘It was once again the hard-to-find, bespoke and highly optioned modern Porsches that topped the sale,’ reported Broad Arrow’s vice president and senior car specialist Alexander Weaver. ‘This was our best Air|Water auction yet.’
