The RML GT Hypercar is set for its US debut at Florida’s Moda Miami (28 February-1 March). This radical, Porsche 911 GT1-inspired machine will subsequently move to The Amelia Concours d’Elegance before touring along the Atlantic coast.

British motorsport engineering firm RML unveiled the production-spec GT Hypercar in the summer of 2025, after just an 18-month gestation period.

While not a household name, RML is a company with a rich motorsport history. Its origins trace back to Major Arthur Mallock’s Austin 7 Special in 1936, decades before the company was officially founded by Arthur’s son, Ray Mallock, in 1984. From there, the company supported Aston Martin’s Group C programme before going on to run Vauxhall’s and Nissan’s BTCC Works teams.

Conceived in time for RML’s 40th anniversary, the GT Hypercar (known internally as the P39) is a showcase of the firm’s engineering know-how. Based on the 992-generation 911 Turbo S, its bespoke carbon-fibre bodywork takes inspiration from Porsche’s 1998 Le Mans-winning GT1 and produces a staggering 923kg of downforce.

The chassis has been comprehensively upgraded with new adaptive dampers, billet-machined suspension arms and hydraulically adjustable ride height. The wheelbase is lengthened and the track widened to improve handling stability and manage the increased aerodynamic load.

Further enhancements lie under the engine lid. RML enlisted Litchfield – renowned for their 1,000bhp+ Nissan GT-R builds – to extract 907bhp from the donor car’s 3.7-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six. This represents a massive 266bhp increase over the standard Turbo S.

The customer-commissioned, Storm Purple-finished GT Hypercar will lead the Florida debut alongside the original P39 development prototype. The production-spec car is the first of ten 40th Anniversary special editions – all of which reportedly sold out within months of the project’s announcement. While these anniversary models are the most exclusive, total production of the GT Hypercar will be limited to a mere 39 examples worldwide

‘We’re delighted to be unveiling our first US commission at ModaMiami,’ said RML Bespoke board member Michael Mallock. ‘We’ve been able to fine-tune every element, from performance through to aesthetics, to set new standards in performance, refinement and usability.’

Prices for the RML GT1 Hypercar start from £495,000 plus the 992 Turbo S donor car.
