More than 2000 vehicles, including ten collections, will be sold at Mecum’s Glendale 2026 sale on 17-21 March at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals NFL franchise.

The five-day auction extravaganza will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with coverage anchored by the latest addition to Mecum’s presenting team, sports reporter Shannon Spake. You can also watch the action on Mecum’s YouTube channel here.

Two Shelby Cobras feature among the highlights of this year’s catalogue. The first, chassis CSX2445 (above), is a narrow-bodied 289 small block that left Carroll Shelby’s production line in 1965. Still matching numbers, CSX2445 has undergone two restorations: the first in the mid-1970s to repair damage from a 1969 accident and a second carried out by renowned Cobra restorer Don Dickinson in 2020. The second, chassis CSX3355, is a 1966 wide-bodied 427 big block – one of just 260 built. Neither car carries a public pre-sale estimate, though Hagerty US values the 1965 example at $814,000-$1.3m and the 1966 at $927,000-$2m depending on condition.

Muscle car collectors will also be drawn to the one-of-a-kind 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback built by Mustang Brothers. Following its debut at the SEMA Show in 2024, the bespoke Mustang – which features a patent-pending panoramic roof – won awards at several US events and has appeared across television and print media. Powered by a supercharged 5.4-litre V8 from a 2012 Mustang GT500, it has covered just 200 miles. Again, no pre-sale estimate has been provided.

Buyers will also have the rare opportunity to acquire cars from the Petersen Automotive Museum collection. The museum is auctioning five bespoke hot rods, including 1932 and 1933 Ford Roadsters built by Boyd Coddington and Chip Foose respectively. Also included is a 1932 Ford Model B Hi-Boy Roadster built by the legendary So-Cal Speed Shop (above). Four of the five hot rods have earned the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster accolade.

Other noted collections set to cross the block include classic muscle cars from the Nevada Collection, headlined by a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible and a 1969 Chevrolet El Camino. The Retro Garage Collection features American performance icons such as a first-year Chevrolet Corvette, a one-of-12 1973 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Bugazzi and a 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS, while the John Lemmons Collection spans the pre-war era to the 2000s and includes cars such as a 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley and a 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe Country Squire.

The most unusual – and dramatic – machines in the catalogue are likely the Don Vesco Bonneville Salt Flats racers. Among them is Silver Bird, an extreme streamlined machine that became the first motorcycle in history to surpass 300mph in 1975, powered by two 300bhp Yamaha TZ750 engines. The machine later evolved into Lightning Bolt (above) in 1978, when it was fitted with more powerful 1000cc Kawasaki engines and set a 318mph record. Also on offer is the 2013 Vesco Racing Turbinator II Streamliner, a missile-shaped machine that remains the only wheel-driven car to surpass 500mph.
