The Bovensiepen 05 GT has been unveiled as a reworked version of the BMW M5 Touring and spiritual successor to the Alpina B5.

Created by the Bovensiepen family, who sold the Alpina naming rights to BMW in 2022, the 05 GT follows the carbon-bodied Bovensiepen Zagato special edition that heralded the new marque’s arrival in 2025.

The 05 GT’s subtly redesigned exterior is the work of McLaren P1 designer Frank Stephenson. Those who favour Alpina‘s reserved style over the aggression of BMW’s M cars will approve of his restrained approach, which pares back the muscularity of the standard bodywork.

At the front, the donor M5’s separate intakes have been unified into a single broader graphic, complemented by a redesigned front splitter. The rear flanks gain an air duct ahead of each wheel that ties the widened arches into the sills. Another eye-catching feature is the black band that wraps from the nose, through the sides and into the tail.

Meanwhile, rear parking sensors and reflectors are concealed in a dark strip to reduce visual clutter, while the quad titanium exhaust tips sit further outboard to make the car seem wider and more squat.

‘The aim was to create something that has an immediate presence, without being too loud or aggressive,’ said Euan McPherson, design team lead at frankstephenson design. ‘It was about doing just enough in the right places to make the whole car feel lower, wider and more resolved.’

The 05 GT leaves the M5 Touring’s mechanical hardware broadly as BMW intended, but reaches deeper for the performance. The S68 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 hybrid stays, joined by a new intake, fresh software and a less restrictive titanium Akrapovič exhaust. Together they lift output from 718bhp and 738lb ft to 790bhp and 811lb ft, gains of 72bhp and 73lb ft. The sprint to 62mph takes less than 3.6sec and the car runs on to beyond 190mph, with drive going to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Bovensiepen has also sought to improve handling and ride comfort by retuning the M Adaptive dampers, fitting specially developed Eibach springs and new strut braces. The 05 GT will ride on 21-inch alloy wheels all-round, as opposed to the standard car’s staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear setup.

Only 100 05 GTs will be built each year. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin towards the end of the year, with prices starting from £171,125, or £43,250 for the conversion.
