A small group of cars owned by renowned automotive and aviation artist Michael Turner will be offered at Bonhams’ Goodwood Members’ Meeting sale on 19 April, following his death in December 2025 at the age of 91. The trio reflects Turner’s long-standing enthusiasm for historic machinery, led by a Jaguar SS100 he retained for nearly seven decades.

The headline lot is Turner’s 1939 Jaguar SS100 3.5-litre, estimated at £225,000-275,000. Registered DTF28, the car is believed to represent one of the longest ownership periods of any of the 116 examples built. Prior to Turner acquiring it, the SS100 enjoyed an active post-war competition life, appearing at circuits including Silverstone, Croft and Goodwood itself. Restored during the late 1980s and early 1990s and refinished in Turner’s preferred dark blue, it remained a regular companion, even being driven to the inaugural Goodwood Revival in 1998. The car was featured in Octane issue 250, and you can read the full feature here.

Joining it is a 1968 Jaguar 340, offered without reserve and a £7000-12,000 guide price. Originally delivered as a 340 saloon, it was later upgraded with a 4.2-litre straight-six engine and modified to Mk2-style specification, including lowered suspension and a louvred bonnet. While more modest in value, it reflects the same practical enthusiasm that defined Turner’s ownership, favouring usability and enjoyment over strict originality. Completing the group is a 1942 Ford GPW Jeep with trailer, estimated at £12,000-16,000, also offered without reserve.

Turner’s connection to Goodwood lends additional resonance to the sale. His work chronicled decades of motorsport history, while his SS100 itself competed at the circuit in period. That the cars will cross the block at the Members’ Meeting provides a fitting context.
